El Espiritu de Boz
May 7th, 2007
In Buenos Aires (Argentina), Carmen Ferreyra gathered a dynamic team for Julien Friedler’s "Around The Boz In 80 Years" art project ("Alrededor del Boz en 80 anos", in Spanish). These "Boz Girls" are so enthousiastic they have already collected about 1500 questionnaires in a few weeks.
Their secret ? Choosing a good place and taking the time. The team of Boz Girls is currently working at La Recoleta, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. With a distinctly European feel (locals say it is a piece of Paris transplanted), Recoleta is known for its fashionable restaurants, cafes, and galleries. Tourists and Argentines spend their leisure time outside with weekends bringing street performances, art exhibits, and fairs.
The Boz Girls walk mainly around “Plaza Francia,” the park where most people stop for a look at artisans’ creations, or just to relax on the grass and drink a mate. Surrounding this park, there are several important centers : the Recoleta Cemetery (with Argentina’s historical and elite figures), the Centro Cultural Recoleta (holds art exhibits, theatrical and musical performances), the Museo Participativo de Ciencias, and the Buenos Aires Design (features shops specializing in home décor).

So, this park is a very symbolic place in regard of the "Forest of Souls" ("Bosque de Almas" in spanish). Dressed in Boz T-shirts, the girls meet the people there, explaining the project and proposing to fill in the questionnaire.
Besides, "El Espiritu de Boz" was on the headline of the website www.cronicasmoviles.com.ar on May, 1st 2007. You can discover the article (in Spanish), the photos and a video here.
